No Ticket Price Hike in Telangana for Peddi

Ram Charan‘s highly anticipated sports drama Peddi will not receive a ticket price hike in Telangana, as the makers have withdrawn their petition from the High Court. The Peddi Telangana ticket hike request faced resistance from both the court and exhibitors, leaving the film to release with regular pricing on June 4.

Court Petition Withdrawn

The producers of Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana, recently approached the Telangana High Court seeking permission to increase ticket prices for one week after the film’s release. However, following the court hearing, the production team chose to withdraw the petition.

According to Deccan Chronicle, the Telangana High Court did not issue any specific directions during the hearing, taking into consideration its previous judgments related to ticket price revisions. The court’s firm stance on ticket pricing has affected multiple big-budget releases in recent months.

Previous Government Representations

Before moving to the High Court, the film unit had submitted representations to the Home Secretary on two separate occasions, requesting approval for the ticket price hike. With no positive response from the authorities despite multiple attempts, the team decided to seek legal relief through the High Court route.

Andhra Pradesh Approval Creates Contrast

While Telangana denied the ticket hike, Peddi received a green signal from the Andhra Pradesh government for special pricing. The AP government approved premiere shows with ticket prices up to ₹600, along with additional pricing for regular shows during the first week—a stark contrast to the Telangana situation.

The ongoing ticket pricing controversy in Telangana has created uncertainty for several major releases this year, with producers facing repeated challenges in securing special pricing approvals.

As things stand, Peddi will release with regular ticket rates in Telangana while enjoying premium pricing benefits in Andhra Pradesh, creating a unique two-state pricing strategy for Ram Charan‘s pan-India sports drama.
